In 2018, four animated films – The Donkey King, 3 Bahadur: Rise of The Warriors, Allahyar and The Legend of Markhor and Tick Tock – were released in Pakistan. Even though this year includes hit films such as Saqib Malik’s Baaji, Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar-starrer Parey Hut Love and others, no animated production made it to local cinemas.
However, recent reports suggest that the creators of Allahyar and The Legend of Markhor are all geared up for their next film.
“It’s an animated feature and is in its finishing phase,” writer and director Uzair Zaheer Khan of Allahyar and The Legend of Markhor told Entertainment Pakistan.
“We are aiming for release in summers 2020 as it is always the best time to release animated feature [films]. We will be revealing the title of the film as well as more about the animated production soon,” he added.
The site also stated that the second animated feature has been made on a very big canvas with never seen before animation and visuals in a Pakistani animated feature.
Last year, Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor not only won the Prestigious Monolith Award for content at the Infinity Film Festival, California, but was officially selected for screening at the 15th Annual South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) in New York as well. It featured Ali Noor as an antagonist with Natasha Humera Ejaz stealing the film with her voice acting and had a fabulous soundtrack to go along with it.
We can’t wait to see what the creators have in store for the audience this time around
